The Toll of Sand and Grit on the Life of Screen Cylinders

Sand and grit in the furnish typically results in excessive smoothing of a screen cylinder's  surface profile. As the screen cylinder profile becomes worn, the screen begins to thicken excessively and the throughput capacity of the cylinder is reduced. Hard chrome and wire shape are two key components of reducing the impact of sand and grit and increasing the life of the screen cylinder.
